Let’s celebrate a great past year for Toronto teams, with a return to “We the North!” at the York Regional Forest’s North Tract, located near the hamlet of Vivian in Whitchurch-Stouffville. Easily accessible from the 404, this spectacular winter venue is located on Hwy 48 just south of Davis Drive, not far from Newmarket, Ontario.

North Tract was remapped in 2016 by Ihor Palagnyuk, and used for the Turkey Trot that year. It is a perfect location for winter orienteering, with an extensive trail network and more accessible forest vegetation in that season. This UKR O Cup will again venture into the less used northern section of the map, as well as more complex areas in the centre and south of the terrain.

Please come out, participate and celebrate, “We the North (Tract)”!

PS Regarding facilities: there are none on site, but a good amount of parking. Please do consider this and the environment, and carpool if at all possible.  As is our tradition, a range of prizes will be awarded, including random door prizes, so that many participants can leave happy!

For the O-Cup series of orienteering races some of the controls on the map are drawn inside a ‘box’. Depending on your handicap (see below) you can skip a number of these controls. Ideally, the handicaps are adjusted so that the race is equally difficult for all participants, and everyone should finish at the same time.

There will also be a point-to-point BEGINNER course without any box.
