Come out for a frenetic day of racing and recreational orienteering in Newly Re-mapped Claireville Conservation Area. Compete in a series of stages using the Handicap system to drop controls at each stage. Don't get Knocked Out!

This is the final race in the Orienteering Ontario O-Cup Series, and the series trophy will be awarded at this event! Check out current series point standings: O-Cup 2023-24 Series Results

Parking The gate will be open of us so you can park by the Field Studies Centre.
Road Access Drive north from Steeles Ave E along Highway 50 to the entrance.
Washrooms Available inside the Field Studies Centre.

Check-in 9:15 to 10:15 inside and upstairs at Field Studies Centre. (late arrivals will be checked in after race start)
Refreshments Sweet and salty snacks! Bring your own food / energy bars to refuel in between races.
Clothing Drop There will be a dry place to leave your warm jackets and spare clothes or shoes and any snacks right at the start/finish, so fast finishers can stay warm while they wait to restart.
Running Conditions With all the rain and mild weather, there is not expected any snow.  Trails might be muddy.  Update will be sent out the day before the race.
Best Footwear? Trail running shoes.

      Directions

      Take the 427 North to Highway 7. Go west(left) on Highway 7 to Highway 50. Turn south(left) on Highway 50 and travel south for about 1.5 km to the park entrance on the west(right) side. Enter the park and follow the signs to the parking area. Please drive slowly and carefully.

      Format
      The Knockout uses The Handicap Orienteering And Scoring System (THOMASS). The race courses will feature boxes of 7 controls which participants may visit in any order. Participants have the option to skip controls in the box equal to their handicap point total. Handicap points are awarded as follows (ages as of December 31, 2024):

      Example: A woman 45-54 as of December 31, 2024 may skip 4 box controls and only take any 3 of the 7.
      Cost
      • Adults: $30/person but ONLY $25 for TOC/UKR members
      • Youth: $20/person (16 & under) but ONLY $15 for TOC/UKR members
      • Beginner Clinic and Course: $40 per person (Limited to 8 persons)

      Notes

      SportIdent electronic timing will be used at this event. If you do not have a SI Card you can rent one for $3. If you have your own SI card, please provide the number when registering.

      BEGINNER CLINIC

      The gate to the park opens at 9am.  Please check in between 9:00 and 9:15am as the clinic will start at 9:15am.

      Course will close at 12:30 - please return to the start by that time.

      GATE CLOSURE

      Park employees will be closing the main gate at 1:30pm so everyone will need to exit by then.
